WHO WE ARE
The Select Training and Tutorial Institute (STTI) is a California non-profit service corporation created in 2009 by Former Deputy City Manager for the City of Fresno and Founder of the San Joaquin Valley Black Expo, Dr. Henry Hendrix and Mr. Vurdell Newsome, Retired School Principal for Fresno Unified School District. Their foresight, combined with many years of experience in education and dedication to public service created a vision and mission to develop, preserve, promote and empower African American values, culture, civic contributions, and rich historical legacy.
STTI was created for the purpose of developing a Private Post-Secondary Vocational Training Institute under the authority and auspices of the California Department of Consumer Affairs. This will provide vocational training as a means for the acquisition of valuable job/career training to secure gainful employment for individuals throughout the African American community as well as other marginalized groups or individuals. The San Joaquin Valley Black Expo, will assist in educating, promoting and highlighting the culture throughout the Valley.
